Course Description
The course at Cartmel is a left handed oval of about one mile one furlong,
which is bisected by the finishing straight. The run in at just over four furlongs is the longest
in the country, and with the tight nature of the bends, undulating contours and carnival atmosphere all around.
Facilities
The Paddock Enclosure
You have access to the main grandstand, parade ring,
winners enclosure and marquee village. There are a number of catering outlets around the course and
restaurants and bars.
The Course Enclosure
This enclosure has a fairground and market stalls.
It also has a Public Bar offering a variety of fast food catering outlets.
Directions
By road:
Leave the M6 at Junction 36 and follow the A591 then A590 towards Barrow in Furness for about 10 miles
on race days, AA signs direct to the racecourse from the motorway, which is well in advance of the local turnoff
the last few miles to Cartmel are along narrow country lanes. On race days they can be very congested.
By rail:
Train service to Cark-in-Cartmel Station (race day bus service to racecourse) or Grange-over-Sands Station.
